Break-in Reported at El Niguel Heights Home; Suspect Hospitalized With Unknown Medical Condition

Police say a man was picked up near Niguel Road on Monday who fit the description of a intruder in the 31100 block of Boca Raton.

Police received a call April 23 of a burglarly at a home in the 31100 block of Boca Raton Place and Canterbury Place in the El Niguel Heights community.

The call came in at 9:06 a.m., stating there was a man in the home that appeared to be in his 30s, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, thin, and wearing blue gloves, according to Lt. Dan Dwyer of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

"The caller also reported that there was a broken window in the rear of the house and that the person inside did not belong at the residence," Dwyer said.

The man was later picked up by police on Niguel Road and taken to a local hospital where he was treated for an unknown medical condition, Chief of Lt. Andy Ferguson said.

"We did find him on Niguel Road and he did match the description of the man in question," Ferguson said. "Because of a medical concern, he was taken to the hospital. We have filed a report with the district attorney's office requesting charges be brought against him."
