Scores of Alleged Victims Point Finger at Ex-Servite Teacher, Coach

Authorities seek more victims in the growing case against a former San Juan Capistrano teacher who most recently coached baseball in Irvine and taught at Servite High.

Scores of boys from Orange County, including Lake Forest, have come forward as alleged victims of a former Capistrano Valley Christian high school history teacher and baseball coach.

Zachary Joshua Reeder, 30, allegedly posed as a teenage girl on Facebook to lure boys into sending him sexually explicit photos. In the wake of the allegations, Reeder was fired from all-boys Servite High in Anaheim, where he was a social science teacher since Fall 2008.

He was also a walk-on baseball coach at Beckman High in Irvine through last year. Beckman competes in the Pacific Coast League, which includes Corona del Mar in south Orange County. Servite is part of the Trinity League, which includes Santa Margarita Catholic and JSerra.

The Irvine Police Department indicates at least 70 victims have come forward in the growing child pornography case against Reeder, who was fired immediately by Servite after notification of his arrest Saturday. A resident of Orange, he posted a $1 million bail on Wednesday.

The Orange County district attorney's office said well over 100 felony counts have been filed against Reeder, including distributing pornography to a minor, contacting a child with the intent to commit a lewd act, using a minor for sex acts, committing a lewd act upon a child, control possession and control of child pornography, and bringing obscene matter into California.

The district attorney expects more victims to come forward. Those who may have been victims can contact investigator Anthony Sosnowski at 714-834-8794 or Irvine police Detective Frough Jahid at 949-724-7184.

I have no idea what goes on inside the mind of adults who prefer sexual contact with children. It must be an inquenchable desire that simply cannot be controlled by willpower. And these are not stupid people. Many are seemingly educated, intelligent people who do really really stupid things and are just asking to get caught. Wow. If all this is true about this guy did he not think that one or two or three of these boys being duped would not tell an adult about it who, in turn, would drop a dime on the authorities? I wonder what mental health professionals say about these people? What drives them to do such stupid things when they are seemingly intelligent human beings? It would seem like an intelligent person would recognize his problem and the risks involved and seek out help to solve his problem instead of ruining his life forever? What am I missing here?

They are cunning. They dedicate themselves to doing whatever it takes to be in close proximity to their victims. Castration is the only cure evidently.

No, I understand why they choose certain professions. That makes sense. I just don't understand how seemingly educated ones would pull the stunt that this guy allegedly pulled and think they could get away with it??? The article says that at least 70 boys came forward and claimed that he pulled this scam on them. Didn't he think that out of 70 boys that least 5% would figure out the scam and rat him out??? If this guy did what they claimed he's done he must have the IQ of a bag of cow chips. But another obsevation that I have is how stupid are the boys for sending naked pictures of themselves that could be literally downloaded all over the country? If I had a kid who ever pulled that stunt he would be grounded for the entire year with hard labor of pulling weeds, making compost and washing cars. No joke either. I would not take such stupidity lightly. Not in my family!

I don't think Castration is going to help. I'm sure they will find other ways to victimize.

This family lived next door to me for 2 1/2 years. They were always polite and friendly. So shocking and sad to hear this. My heart goes out the the vicims and their familes but also to his wonderful wife and daughter, how betrayed and disgusted she must feel. Families teach your kids that the "stranger" that you have been taught to fear could be anyone, even the Dad, Husband and Coach next door. How very very sad.
