Police Search Scaled Down; Laspisas Solicits Donations to Find Lost Son

The search for Bryce Laspisa is entering its third week, and continues with reduced police rescue support.

Police are reducing their rescue effort as the search for Bryce Laspisa begins its third week Saturday. The Laguna Niguel teen's family is soliciting PayPal donations to help with ongoing rescue costs.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is scaling down its search after spending almost two weeks using divers, helicopters, police dogs, horses and foot patrols to find the missing 19-year-old near Castaic Lake, Deputy Johnie Jones told the Chicago Tribune Thursday.

"We've pretty much exhausted searching in that area," he told the Tribune. "They've found basically nothing. So we're kind of at a standstill."

The case is now being handled by the homicide bureau, Lt. Dave Coleman told the Tribune. Detectives will continue interviewing witnesses to discover Laspisa's whereabouts, he said.

The family has opened a website accepting paypal donations at findbrycelaspisa.com. Over 10,000 people have begun following Laspisa's search and rescue Facebook page.

Laspisa disappeared Aug. 30 when his Toyota Highland was found overturned near Castaic Lake. He had been traveling home to Laguna Niguel from
