Man Who Allegedly Robbed Starbucks with Gas Mask Arrested

Brandishing a gun, the suspect a Laguna Niguel resident, allegedly held up the coffeehouse Friday.

The manhunt is over for a suspect who allegedly robbed the Starbucks at 30211 Golden Lantern on Friday wearing a gas mask and brandishing a gun.

According to Orange County Sheriff's spokesman, Jim Amormino, the man who was also wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt at 11:17 a.m, was arrested in Laguna Beach on Friday night.

Amormino said the man was walking in the beach town and was arrested for "appearing drunk" around 8 p.m.

"They took him into custody after noticing he was drunk, and saw he was in possession of a gas mask," Amormino said.

The man's name was not released, he remains in custody, Amormino said.

He made off with an undisclosed amount of cash from the store.

Patch reader, Lee, sent in this comment: "I was at Starbuck's yesterday when the robber came in at the Marina Hills store, I was standing at the corner waiting for a sweet roll when I looked up and saw this gas-masked man standing across the counter looking at the cashier. He showed the cashier his gun right in front of me and asked her for the keys. At that point I moved out of his line of sight and a few minutes later saw him running out the door. He jumped on a red bike and sped off. I went back today and found out that they had arrested him in Laguna Beach and he was drunk."

Amormino could not confirm if the man was on a red bike at the time of arrest, but he was "not driving."

More details as they become available.

I hit enter in the comment and it posted - I wasn't done! Why would it post if you don't clickRead More "post comment"?! I read one story and the scrunched up left placement gave me a headache. The ad column on the right is way too big - too wide. If they made that smaller, swapped the "board" column and the news (so the news was in the middle), I think it would be easier to read.

With the ad block on the right and the boards info in the middle, it feels like the news part isRead More scrunched too far to the left.
