'It Is Not in His Nature,' Family Says of Robbery Suspect

The 20-year-old resident of Laguna Niguel was arrested Friday evening for allegedly robbing a Starbucks and a yogurt store two weeks prior.

Family members of Kyle Kamal Starner are "shocked and upset," by the arrest of the 20-year-old Friday evening for allegedly robbing a local Starbucks and a yogurt shop.

Starner's sister, who asked to remain anonymous, said: "Based on everything we have heard, Kyle would never do this, and it is not in his nature.

"We are just waiting for all this to be cleared up. People often think someone is guilty before they are proven innocent. Let's just wait and see in this case."

At one point, Starner worked at Laguna Niguel Lake and lived in Oregon where he graduated from high school. He lives in Laguna Niguel with his mother, according to the family member.

Starner was allegedly walking around Laguna while "extremely intoxicated," Amormino said. And "the officer noticed he was in possession of a gas mask when he stopped him."

Because Starner was already on probation for burglary and possession of stolen property, he is subject to search and seizure, and deputies searched his Laguna Niguel home Friday night, Amormino said.

They found a handgun and clothing matching the robbery description in a bag at Starner’s home, Amormino said.

Starner was arrested on suspicion of robbing the Starbucks and of robbing a Swirlz frozen yogurt shop in the same plaza two weeks earlier.

He remains in custody, Amormino said.

I hit enter in the comment and it posted - I wasn't done! Why would it post if you don't clickRead More "post comment"?! I read one story and the scrunched up left placement gave me a headache. The ad column on the right is way too big - too wide. If they made that smaller, swapped the "board" column and the news (so the news was in the middle), I think it would be easier to read.

With the ad block on the right and the boards info in the middle, it feels like the news part isRead More scrunched too far to the left.
