Firefighters Knock Down Boston Market Blaze

The fire started in the free-standing restaurant building in the Marketplace at Laguna Niguel plaza.

Orange County Firefighters quickly extinguished a blaze that broke out in the Boston Market restaurant at the Marketplace at Laguna Niguel, an Orange County Fire Authority spokesman said Tuesday.

The fire was reported at 1:43 p.m., and engines responded within five minutes, said OCFA's Jon Muir. The blaze appeared to be largely confined to the exterior walls, and was first noticed by customers.

"People were telling us through the drive-thru speaker that we had a fire," Boston Market employee Bassem Erian told Patch.

The fire "went to two alarms" due to the large number of people in the shopping center, but was extinguished before it could spread, by 2:34 p.m., Muir said. The restaurant is a freestanding structure at 27100 Alicia Parkway, in the shopping center plaza.
