Crime: Alleged Scammer Poses As Helper

A rundown of calls that came into the O.C. Sheriff’s Department June 2-3 in Laguna Niguel:

A caller reported that a man asked her if she needed help loading her groceries into her car, and once he was finished, she realized he had taken her keys. According to the caller, she had recently received an email about a scam involving this. The subject was short, in his 50s, with dark hair, and was wearing a black shirt with a Hawaiian design. The incident occurred at 5:32 p.m. at the cross streets of Alicia Parkway and Pacific Park Drive.

Here are more items from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department blotter. All incidents were reported within Laguna Niguel unless otherwise noted:

Monday, June 3: Unknown Trouble. 3:29 p.m. 31300 block of Pas Del Sol. An elderly caller stated that her husband’s father died in the bedroom at the location, and she didn’t know where his body went. His clothes were still there. Her husband also did not know what was going on.

Grand Theft Report. 10:59 a.m. 27200 block of Heather Ridge Road. An associate at Costco reported that stolen items from the store were showing up on Craigslist the following day.

Sunday, June 2: Citizen Assist. 6:03 p.m. La Paz Road/Pacific Park Drive. A caller reported that while at the Veggie Grill, another customer claimed their dog was a service dog, but it was not wearing a vest. The caller was upset because her children were allergic to dogs, and when she told an employee this, the employee did not know what to do about it.

Suspicious Person. 12:21 p.m. 29900 block of Running Deer Lane. A caller reported that he found a vial of pills in his mailbox.
