Propellor chops swimmer in Dana Point Harbor
I am amazed that I haven't seen any reporting of a Dana Point swimmer hit with a propeller this last 4th of July in Dana Point harbor. I witnessed the rescue of a young man hit in the face and torso by the propeller of a dinghy that two youths in a dinghy caused. The water wars, that are common each 4th of July, are dangerous and this was inevitable. This activity needs to be regulated as it consists of a lack of responsibility by boat operators ( many overly intoxicated ) roaring through the harbor in a free for all water fight. Manning water cannons, pumps, water balloons and even tossing buckets of water at each other it has become the most dangerous activity allowed in Dana Point. How long do we wait until someone is killed? Why does the Harbor patrol let safety abuses of no life jackets, overloading, speeding and radical boat handling occur? Why hasn't this been reported by the Patch? AN area like hidden beach could be set aside for this event and it should be watched over by the authorities to insure no running motors are allowed.
