No religion, just life. That’s the slogan that Pastor Scott Huffman has printed on the fliers announcing the arrival of his new church, Lighthouse.  Huffman, a Southern California native, recently moved his family to the hills of Laguna Niguel to plant a church and preach a new kind of message.

"The focus of our message is freedom and liberty in Christ," explains Huffman. "Religion in many ways epitomizes legalism, bondage and guilt. Lighthouse doesn’t bring a heavy burden.  We’re not here to preach condemnation, but instead are here to spread the message of God’s love and life giving power. Jesus didn’t come to condemn the world but to save it, redeem it and change it. We want to do what he did."

A Family Affair

Huffman’s wife, Marilyn, and his five daughters are all an integral part of the Lighthouse ministry. Each maintains various roles in the church. The Huffman family truly is the foundation upon which the organization of Lighthouse is built.

If it’s not religious, what kind of church is Lighthouse?

Lighthouse is a non-denominational Christian church who welcomes all faiths and ages and provides a children’s ministry for children.

"We teach from the Bible,” says Huffman. Our focus is grace and victory, but also healing and growing in your relationship with the Lord. I feel that my calling as a pastor is not only to bring people to Christ, but also to help them go to the next level in their walk with the Lord. It is time for the body of Christ to grow up."

"I feel that we were directed to this area by the Lord to minister to this particular community. There are a lot of people who have stayed away from churches with the fear that it would make them feel bad about themselves. There are so many people who attend, or have attended a church but are still feeling lack and wanting more. We want Lighthouse to be a place where people who haven’t heard the message of liberty preached come and be blessed. Church can truly be a fun and exciting place to be! Lighthouse is a strong beacon of light in a world of darkness."
