Chanukah Celebrations Begin Saturday Evening

Rabbi Mendy Paltiel of Chabad Jewish Center of Laguna Niguel shares his thoughts on the holiday. The annual lighting of the menorah is Sunday at City Hall.

Guest Editorial from Rabbi Mendy Paltiel of Chabad Laguna Niguel

Chanukah is upon us! of these confusing times, Chanukah arrives just on time, with its message of light, hope and optimism.  The menorah's flame flickering in the darkness symbolizes the victory of goodness and light over all that is dark; that at the end of the day, goodness and truth will prevail, because G-d is on their side!

The Chanukah lights empower us to overcome obstacles and deal with life's challenges successfully, even transforming potential darkness into opportunities for light.

Let us celebrate this Chanukah with even more joy and pride than ever before. Let us renew our faith and optimism in Hashem's plan, and recommit ourselves to bringing our own light to the world; the light of Torah and Mitzvahs, the light of goodness and kindness, which will dispel the darkness of evil and allow for the triumph of G-dliness and goodness.

Chanukah begins this Saturday night! Please be sure to light your own Chanukah candles each night of Chanukah. Click here for instructions on kindling the Menorah and the blessings that are recited.

Do you know where your Menorah is? If you're in need of one, please let us know and we'll be happy to provide you with one.

I look forward to seeing you at our grand menorah lighting and celebration this Sunday, Dec. 9, 3:30 p.m. at the new and beautiful Laguna Niguel City Hall: 30111 Crown Valley Pkwy., Laguna Niguel. City dignitaries, including the mayor and council will be there to celebrate with our commmunity.

Shabbat Shalom & a Happy Chanukah!

Rabbi Mendy Paltiel

I hit enter in the comment and it posted - I wasn't done! Why would it post if you don't clickRead More "post comment"?! I read one story and the scrunched up left placement gave me a headache. The ad column on the right is way too big - too wide. If they made that smaller, swapped the "board" column and the news (so the news was in the middle), I think it would be easier to read.

With the ad block on the right and the boards info in the middle, it feels like the news part isRead More scrunched too far to the left.
