Father Says Goodbye to Son at Salt Creek Beach

Kenny Austin and his daughter flew from Switzerland to pay their final respects to his son, Frank Daniel, who died in an apparent swimming accident over Labor Day.

Kenny Austin travelled many miles from Switzerland to Salt Creek Beach last week to say goodbye to his son, Daniel Austin, who went missing Sept. 2 and whose body was later found Sept. 8

when he went swimming, according to authorities. After several days of searching the area, the rescue was called off, however, his body was found floating off Monarch Beach.

in a small city outside of Zurich with his wife and children, and said he wanted to come to California to say his final farewells in his own way.

"This is a photo of my daughter, Joana, and I saying our farewells to Frank on Sept. 20 at Salt Creek Beach," he said. "We spent the whole afternoon there and enjoyed every minute of it. This was the hardest thing I ever had to do in my life. We returned home the next day."

He added that the services for his son will be: Rosary Service on, Sept. 28 from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Custer Chrisiantian, 124 South Ciitrus Ave., Covina.

Memorial Service for Daniel Austin will be Sept. 29, from 10-11 a.m., at Sacred Heart, 344 West Workman St., Covina.

"Joana and I want others to know that we said our goodbye's in person on the beach where he went down and was found. It's sad we were not wanted at the services with family and friends."

They decided not to attend the services, but Kenny has posted a web site in his son's honor as a tribute that will remain indefinitely.

I hit enter in the comment and it posted - I wasn't done! Why would it post if you don't clickRead More "post comment"?! I read one story and the scrunched up left placement gave me a headache. The ad column on the right is way too big - too wide. If they made that smaller, swapped the "board" column and the news (so the news was in the middle), I think it would be easier to read.

With the ad block on the right and the boards info in the middle, it feels like the news part isRead More scrunched too far to the left.
