Britney Jean Offers Fun, Catchy Dance Tracks

Britney’s latest album Britney Jean makes me feel young again and makes me remember just why I fell in love with the Princess of Pop back in middle school.  That sexy, sultry, distinctive voice comes through on all the tracks, reminiscent of her freshman disc Baby One More Time and her sophomore disc Britney.

While her original fans may appreciate her more mature attitude on "Work B*itch," I’m more drawn to "Alien" and "Perfume"- their simplicity is what draws me in.  Britney’s come a long way since Baby One More Time, but the lessons she has learned though out the years are evident, as she sings in "Alien,"  “There was a time I was one of a kind/Lost in the world out of me myself and I.”  Let’s not forget that infamous period where she shaved her head and attacked a paparazzi- but hey- the world of celebrity is filled with chaos.  I’m just glad that time has passed and Britney’s back to her roots.

Upon first listen of "Perfume," I thought the name of the song alone made it worthy of skipping over, but it has quickly become my favorite.  “Am I being paranoid, am I seeing things?/Am I just insecure?”  What girl can’t relate to being vulnerable in a relationship or having a sneaking suspicious you’re being cheated on?

"It Should Be Easy" features will.i.am and his classic synthesizers and club beats. Will.i.am sings, “Baby, love it should be easy/It shouldn’t be complicated..” Again, another classic one liner strings along the theme of heart break, in what Spears calls her most personal album ever.

"Chillin With You" might just be one of the oddest and cheesiest on the album, but I absolutely love it. Britney duets with her baby sister Jamie Lynn (who by the way, has a pretty decent voice) as they sing about wine and romance.

If it is dancey, fun pop songs you’re looking for, this album has all you need. I’d highly recommend investing in the deluxe version, because the extra songs are among some of my favorites, and they all make you want to dance!  And as an avid concertgoer of Spears from years back, I definitely plan on investing in a ticket to her Vegas show because Britney is definitely back!
