BLOG: Do MacBooks Still Rival All?

Does anyone else find it extremely irritating when webs ites you used to frequent are no longer compatible with your browser?

I remember distinctly being in my senior year of college, and being told by numerous friends how MacBooks rival Dells and any other computer for that matter. However, I also distinctly remember owning one back in elementary school that seemed so ancient it didn’t even have enough memory to hold the Internet. 

Despite all this, the more I grew to hate my own ancient IBM that I inherited from my dad’s work, the more I came to listen to my friends and the more I grew envious of their MacBooks.  Finally, I gave in. I have now had that same computer for about 4 years and while I still like it, my love for it has hit the comfortable stage. 

I never upgraded from the Tiger operating system, mainly because I didn’t feel the need.  Just like when you’re in high school and everyone starts listening to the same band, because it’s the “cool thing to do,” I never felt that I needed to upgrade. 

Now here we are several years later, and I get scoffed at when I go into Apple asking why my IPhone 3gs (see, even with my phone I don’t have the “latest” version) is incompatible with my ITunes software.  The reason? Well of course it’s because I never upgraded from Tiger to Leopard, to Snow Leopard, to what operating system are we even at now?

I can live with not being able to download songs from my phone to my computer; I never used that feature any way.  But darn it, I admittedly have a problem with being forced to upgrade to a newer version of Safari, so that I can watch an episode of Grey’s Anatomy.  (Mind you, I often streamed episodes of Grey’s and Lost weekly throughout college on my laptop.)  Such was a simpler time then, and as I write this I believe my newest version has been installed and I can finally go watch that episode.
