Look Good Feel Better - Margot Ferron

The American Cancer Society offers many free services to the community. One of the favorites is Look Good Feel Better.

Look Good Feel Better is a program that teaches all women with cancer beauty techniques to help manage their appearance related to side effects of undergoing chemotherapy, radiation or other forms of treatment.   It is designed to give them confidence and boost their spirits.

In Mission Viejo, the next Look Good Feel Better is being held at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center, 26732 Crown Valley Pkwy, Mission Viejo, CA 92691 on Mon., Oct.  21, 2013 from 1-3 pm in the Mission Women’s Wellness Center Conference Room on the 1st floor, Suite 171 A, Mission Medical Tower building.

For reservations please call Mission Hospital’s My Health Line at 949/364-1770.   Registration is required, but there is no fee.   There are seats still available.

More than 800,000 women have participated in the program in the United States and there are 14,500 workshops nationwide in more than 3,000 locations. The group programs are led by volunteer, trained professionals using products donated by the cosmetic industry.  Each two-hour, hands-on session includes makeup, nail care and advice on how to use wigs, hairpieces and other accessories.

Patients are given complimentary cosmetic kits in shades that match their skin tones.  Because of confidentiality and space restrictions only patients may attend.  There are only five to 10 participants in each workshop.

Relay for Life of Mission Viejo is a five star relay.  This year is our 20th relay.  The Relay committee strives for excellence and sets goals with the American Cancer Society.

One goal is to reach out to our community and keep them informed of the wonderful programs offered as well as encourage our licensed cosmetologists to volunteer for Look Good Feel Better.

The American Cancer Society not only funds programs and services, it funds research, advocacy and education.   It genuinely gives each of us an avenue to fight back and remember our loved ones.

It is a unique way for us to create a community enriched by a tapestry of people who want to know their neighbors and share their love by helping one another.

You are not alone in your fight against cancer.  Your community is here to support you.   If you want to volunteer or need information, please contact Margot Ferron, 949/309-1235 or email: gomargotgo@aol.com.
