16,000 Turkey Trotters Expected Thursday in Dana Point

Organizers for California's second-largest turkey trot expect 16,000 joggers to shuffle through Dana Point Thursday.

If they draw that many, it will be the race's largest crowd in its 36-year history.

There will be a 5K, 10K and Kids’ Gobble Wobble to choose from.

Things will get started at Dana Point Harbor, with the race set to begin at 7 a.m. and last till noon.

Portions of proceeds will go to four charities: The Boys & Girls Clubs of Capistrano Valley, Family Assistance Ministries, Dana Point 5th Marine Regiment Support Group and VFW Post 9934.
