PATCH - Last
Weeks For Charming Laguna Beach
Summer Arts, Music & Fun In Its 80th Success

Pageant of the
Masters/Festival of Arts -- The
Spectacular Show--Swept in With Summer &now waves
goodbye Autumn

By: Joseph Sirota

The
80th Year Summer of Laguna Beach's unique Pageant of the Masters / Festival
of the Arts,
has once again achieved all expectations & applause
from its opening at July 7th, & will continue through August 31st. This
year's creative theme, The Big Picture- (The Movies) was,
(& still is) a perfect selection for our Southern Cal "HOLLYWOOD" history. Realize that Motion Pictures
were a "miracle" gift to theater lovers as it expanded live stages
for local audiences to huge, repeatable screened shows that reached so many more
folks. The Pageant of the Masters however, echoed back to France's 1800's
"tableaux vivants"-- which, ironically took motionless paintings and then converted paintings/statues
into "Living Art Works" "with live actors on live stages", and
music plus narration. The 2013's narration & music were grand, bringing
even more energy, humor, fanciful creativity & delightful entertainment for
all. Adding the magic of movies' wonderful Characters, Tales & Stars tapped
all.

Laguna's
2013 Pageant is again one of the most splendid experiences to adults, kids, and
grandparents. Everyone Oohs, Ahhs & laughs! The one difficulty at opening
is the very magnetic calling of the amazing show. It gathers huge crowds,
especially in the opening weeks of summer, when school is closed, parents on
vacation, and travelers are drawn not only to the show -- but to beautiful
Laguna Beach (People from land-locked cities get a special kick out of being in
beautiful artistic streets and hills -- just blocks from the mighty Pacific
Ocean. I must admit, the early days/weeks are Pizzazz, but do have to handle crowds,
very busy parking (despite charming Trolleys.. if you're patient).  But now, as the last few weeks of The Pageant
& Art Fair
, kids head back to school (Teachers, too), & parents
go back to work. So these last few weeks may be more easy for you to not worry of
crowds or cars. Just come on down & enjoy the terrific Livings Arts &
terrific Festival of fine artists showing & discussing a wide variety of their
memorable works, you can buy, or at least enjoy seeing forms of creative ideas.
New? ...You'll be won over.

There's so much fun and smiles, Words would take
took much space, and still not capture all the many uplifting experiences. Here
are a view "Living Art" happy recalls: "The Silent Clowns"--recreate
Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, & others, in rollicking fun & daring
comedic daring--Bravo! "The Master Of Suspense" is a
darker, but very moving salute to Alfred Hitchcock, and his uncanny films to
increase our heart beats. "Other Film-related Varied Tastes"
include, Snow White, Ferris Bueller's Day
Off
& New York's Manhattan. And even though there was great
attention & honor for the Film world, The Great Masters of Art also included
Michelangelo's powerful works, the special touches of Vermeer, Gainsborough, Rockwell,
Joshua Reynolds & Frederic Remington joined the ever most memorable "The
Last Supper
", by Leonardo da Vinci.

Do
not forget the Festival of Arts portion of the shows' creative offerings of 140
very live and very gifted local artists you can and should also see during the
day & twilight before the Nighttime Living Art Pageant (which must start at
nightfall, 8:30, as a dark night background is essential for the magic lighting
of the majestic Pageant "Living arts". The local artists are unfailingly
fine talent, well selected artists. They cover wide spectrums of versatile arts,
& happily talk with you about their works. Most arts shown are happily for
sale. This year one male photographer, Ron Azevedo's absolutely had I almost
missed, but had me staring and feeling far beyond my first look. His photos
were magnificently created-- but also carried unique true-history views of a
large fairground in Chernobyl
that still stood silently abandoned after decades. No little child or
well-meaning parent, ever got to sit in the huge Ferris Wheel or clever little
pedal race cars to play in. Before the fun-park could bring a smile to even one
human, big or small, the Chernobyl Nuclear catastrophe contaminated the entire
Dream Grounds before being fully finished-- So not a single soul ever got to
play for even a minute, though all had been waiting to smile & laugh with
the families. Unfinished dreams stand silent.

As
for local young artists, I always look forward to stop & study the large,
busy art area with walls of youngsters' works (pre-Kindergarten to High School
seniors). It's fascinating to see the work of young artists' talent (likely
some future stars). Most kid's art works aren't for sale, but there always a
picture I'd like to buy, if my home wasn't cluttered with art already. Its fun for
all to guess who will be "Art Stars of Tomorrow".
