Supermarket Strikes and Saturn in Libra

Saturn and Venus are in Libra and Libra rules unions. Remember back in 2003 and the four- month supermarket walk-out?

In astrology everything in the world is divided up and ruled by either a planet, sign or house and the sign of Libra rules unions.

Saturn went into Libra in July of last year (remember all the trouble in Wisconsin?). Currently, we have both Saturn and Venus in Libra with the sun going into Libra on Sept. 23. As I write this, the unions representing three Southern California grocery chains are poised to walk out.

Unfortunately, a strike is probable with the aspects we're seeing. Venus the planet of money is moving toward Saturn the planet of restriction which makes communications and negotiations difficult. Back in October 2003 when Venus was in Libra but this time squaring Saturn, there was a supermarket strike that lasted four months. Back then, Saturn was in Cancer (which rules food and grocery stores) and it went retrograde just after the strike which delayed negotiations resulting in 70,000 workers participating in protests and picket lines.

Then, at the end of February 2004, Saturn slowed down to turn direct and union members ratified an agreement. Venus had moved into Aries, named for the god of war, and both sides claimed victory.

This time, Saturn is not going retrograde so while it's having an effect it should be a much shorter process. If they do strike then the most difficult time will be between now and the end of September as Venus moves closer and closer to Saturn. But in October, Venus will have passed the Saturn and progress in negotiations will be much easier.
