New Alien Planet Discovered

A new planet was discovered this month orbiting our closest neighboring solar system, Alpha Centauri. But even though the planet is spotted it will take us a while to visit. It's more than 25 trillion miles from the earth, that's 4.2 light years. It actually takes the light from the sun of Alpha Centauri more than four years to reach us. How far is that? If we were to send Voyager 1 in a straight line towards this new discovered planet at the velocity that Voyager 1 travels (60,000 km/hour) it would take 80,000 years to get there.

If you're looking for Alpha Centauri in the sky you probably won't find it. Unfortunately we in the United States can't see this constellation (unless you're visiting Hawaii and then it will just be on the horizon).

The constellation of Centauri was named for the Centaurs, a race in Greek mythology of half human/half horse who were known for their power and their balance between wisdom and wildness. In Astrology the constellation of Centauri is said to bring friends of high rank, bestow good health and grant us honors. Now that we have our attention in the direction of Centauri it's a good time to gather with friends and to be open to receiving benefits from those around us.
