Another Reason for Pumpkin Pie

Thanksgiving is here and with it, wonderful pumpkin pie. It's said that the early settlers made a pumpkin pie of sorts. No crust, just stewed pumpkin mixed with milk, honey and spices. Throughout history, foods were used to heal and people knew each food has an energy and an Astrological correspondence. Here's a recipe for pumpkin pie that will bring happy relationships and prosperity.

Wheat is ruled by Venus and in Hildegard von Bingen's book on health and healing called “Physica,” she said that wheat is “hot and full of profit” meaning it is good for you (of course this was a stone ground wheat with all the bran). We add butter to make our crust and butter is ruled by the Moon so it's a food that brings us comfort.

Our main ingredient, pumpkin, is also ruled by the Moon and in Cunningham's book, “The Magic of Food,” it's said to bring prosperity when mixed with cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg. We add sugar, which is ruled by Venus, and that adds sweetness to our lives. Then milk, which is ruled by the Moon, adding the energy of nurturing. Then our spices; cinnamon (ruled by the Sun) brings happy relationships, allspice (ruled by Jupiter) is said to bring wealth, nutmeg (ruled by Jupiter) opens our awareness and ginger (ruled by Mars) gives us the energy to take hold of opportunities.

I add a little clove to my own recipe, clove is also ruled by Jupiter and is said to bring protection. We finish it off with a pinch of salt which keeps us grounded and practical. Put this all together and you have a food that represents some of the best things in life. And when shared with friends and family it's all the better. Now you have another reason to have pumpkin pie.
