MOVIE REVIEW: 'Looper' Far From Loopy

In the future, time travel is illegal, except for the elite few who use it to wipe out crime. Loopers are those elite few. Being precise is every part of the job.

In the year 2072, the mob runs everything, and when the mob wants to get rid of someone, the target is sent 30 years into the past, where a hired gun awaits. This assassin is called a Looper.

Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is the youngest ever Looper hired by the mob, and the best in the business. He encounters trouble when he discovers the mob has sent his future self (played by Bruce Willis) back to the past to be killed by Joe himself.

Dead set on not altering the present or the future, Joe attempts to carry out his job as necessary. His future self, has other ideas.

The movie follows the pair as they go through this action packed adventure film, both with notions of killing on their minds. Joe’s future self has come back to kill a child who in the future, kills all Loopers. He believes that killing the child will end the Loopers and allow him to live and have a family.

The movie was a very pleasant surprise. The movie makes you think and connect the dots, as flashes of the present and the future are intertwined throughout. The acting is phenomenal and the cinematography is excellent. This film will have you leaving the theater in awe. A much better film than I had imagined.

The film sees new comer Pierce Gagnon, steal the film in his few short scenes. Be on the look out for this kid. He has shades of Haley Joel-Osment written all over him in this. (Coincidentally, also a Willis movie)

I absolutely give it 5 patches out of 5!
