There's A New Burger Joint in Town

Five Guys Burgers and Fries officially opens Monday but had its dry run on Saturday. The new location also gave away free meals on Sunday.

The aroma of fresh, sizzling burgers wafted through the air Saturday and Sunday as employees at the city's newest business performed a few dry runs before Monday's grand opening of

After months of waiting, Laguna Niguel now has its own outpost of the popular East Coast chain—Zagat-rated, no less—at 32341 Golden Lantern, Suite H in the Ocean Ranch II Shopping Center.

Specializing in—what else?—burgers and fries, Five Guys takes up residence in the former Generations, a home goods store that moved to an old Sprint store.

General Manager Rachelle Nguyen and assistant managers Javier Davila, Daniel Boyer and Andrew Ruddy said they were very proud of the new location and looking forward to the grand opening.

"We're really excited to be in Laguna Niguel," Ngyyen said on Sunday evening. "I hope the lines are super long when we officially open tomorrow."

Five Guys corporate office boasts that none of its food is ever frozen and its burgers are 100 percent beef. Each patty is prepared on site and the Idaho potatoes are cut into fries daily. Orders can be placed online at Fiveguys.com and then picked up from an express window inside.

Dining in is also welcome at the 1950s-themed restaurant, which also serves kosher hot dogs, a veggie sandwich and a kids menu. 

Five Guys has other locations—including Fullerton, Orange, Huntington Beach, Cerritos, Encinitas and San Diego.

The grand opening is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday and be forewarned, you'll need plenty of  napkins.
