Summer Fishing at Laguna Niguel Lake

The lake is packed with all kinds of fish, ready to be caught.

It's not too late to enjoy the summer fishing season in Laguna Niguel.

The lake located at 28241 La Paz Road, inside the is packed with bass and fishermen have been reeling them in daily, according to folks at the lake.

Large catfish are being caught; mackerel and Garlic nightcrawlers seem to be working the best. These guys are biting early in the morning, and late in the afternoon toward evening. The Bluegill population is huge, and nightcrawlers on a mosquito hook work well off the shoreline.

Here are some recent big catches:

July 31: A 4-pound catfish was reeled in using a Panther Martin spinner bait by the creek inlet.

Aug. 3: Maddie, Abby and Mike Yaney, caught a total of 37 bass fry and 40 Bluegill fly lining a nightcrawler. Jacob and Nick, 2 Laguna Niguel Lake regulars, were bobber floating a Purple Punisher Texas rig by Bass Island. Jacob reeled in six bass in the 1-3 pound range. Nick caught four more Bass in the 1-3-pound range.

Aug. 4: A group of three others caught a total of 16 bass in the 1-4 pound range, while fishing by the bridge.

Aug. 5: Madison, 9, and Marshall Karl, 11, reeled in two bass, 1-2 pounds) and six Bluegill using nightcrawlers fly-lined by the boat dock.

I hit enter in the comment and it posted - I wasn't done! Why would it post if you don't clickRead More "post comment"?! I read one story and the scrunched up left placement gave me a headache. The ad column on the right is way too big - too wide. If they made that smaller, swapped the "board" column and the news (so the news was in the middle), I think it would be easier to read.

With the ad block on the right and the boards info in the middle, it feels like the news part isRead More scrunched too far to the left.
