Construction at New Grocery Stores Moving Along

Both Fresh & Easy and Whole Foods report they will be coming to Laguna Niguel in 2012.

Both stores are reportedly opening in 2012, according to their representatives. However, it looks like Fresh & Easy will be first as a big, green banner now appears on the front facade stating "Opening Feb. 1."

While Laguna Niguel will gain a store, the parent company, British-based Tesco, announced Tuesday that it is closing 12 stores, two in Orange County, Anaheim and Fountain Valley, due to poor sales.

Company spokesman Brendan Wonnacott confirmed that the Laguna Niguel store will indeed open on Feb. 1 at 8 a.m.

In recent weeks, where the new store is being built, have expressed concern over slow progress and that construction workers are taking up parking places.

Whole Foods, which officially is set to open "spring 2012," according to representatives.

"We will be starting our marketing outreach very soon," representatives said. 

The location, a former Tall Mouse craft store, also Norm Shaughnessy.
