Primping for Prom

Whether it's boutonnieres or prom dresses, we have what you need, where to go and how much it is going to cost your teens (or you).

It's in the air; can you smell it? It's prom time. Oh, to be young again.

Proms at and Capo Valley High schools are this weekend; they're June 11 for and San Clemente High schools. Has your little darling been procrastinating on getting the necessary items coordinated? Here are some local places that can accommodate your last-minute needs. Please note that we are not including anything to do with the girl’s dress.

Tuxedo Rentals

1. : Prom special includes tuxedo rentals at $79.95 with shoes and vest. There is same-day rental for no additional charge.

2. Men’s Wearhouse: Tuxedo rentals start at $ 59.99, vests are $20. Shoes are $20 extra.  You can get a fitting and rental for Saturday if you come in by Friday at 4 p.m. There is a $20 rush fee if ordered within a week of the event date.

3.   You can get same-day fitting and rentals.  Tuxedo rentals start at $59;  shoes are $15 extra. No extra fee if you come in the same day.

Limo Services

Party buses require advanced planning and are frowned upon by the high school administrations.  At Aliso Niguel, students wanting to travel in one must meet the new school standards and submit paperwork with required signatures. 

Those wanting to travel in style with a chauffeured limousine can find three companies listed below.  All require signed parent authorization forms before kids are allowed in the vehicle.  All require a parent to be the authorized agent. The limos will adhere to the parents' requirements regarding allowed stops. All have a policy that indicates that the driver will terminate the trip if drugs or alcohol are found and will take riders back to the original pickup location with a call to the parents.

1. B&C Chauffeur: Call 888-766-7433 Ext. 303, ask for James. Rentals are for an eight-hour minimum. A 12 percent tip is included.  Passengers who like the driver are encouraged to tip more. The following packages still available:

  • Five-passenger "VIP excursion" for $528
  • Eight-passenger Lincoln stretch limo for $624
  • 10-passenger Lincoln stretch white for $672
  • 12-passenger Chrysler 300 Bentley edition for $816
  • 24-passenger H2 Hummer for $1,400

2.  South Coast Limousines: Call 949-831-5466. Prices include tip and service charge. 

  • 10-passenger black Lincoln Town Cars for $795 for eight hours.
  • 20-passenger white H2 Hummer for $1,298 for seven hours.

3. Laguna Niguel Limo: Call 949-415-5683. It has a large fleet of mostly black vehicles ready to go. Prices are negotiable. Quotes below include tip.  

  • 10-passenger stretch limo Chrysler 300, Lincolns and Cadillacs complete with soda/water, for $725 for eight hours.
  • 20-passenger stretch Hummer, Escalades and Navigators. Prices vary, from $1,200-$1,300 depending on the vehicle, for eight hours.

Florists

Below are some local florists and their estimated pricing for prom. 

1. 

  • Rose or orchid boutonnieres are about $10; add crystals for $1.50 or feathers for $1 more.
  • Rose and orchid corsages start at $25; add crystals inside the flower for $1.50 or around an orchid for up to $7.50. Feathers are $2, and unique wristlets are $15 extra. 
  • Rhinestone wristlets are from $25 to $40, and there are more than 50 ribbon colors to match dresses.
  • The shop hand-wires each flower together to ensure stability during dancing.
  • It prefers pre-orders two days before but can handle one day before or possible last-minute orders.

2.  Seasons Florist

  • Boutonnieres are $12.95
  • Corsages are $24.95, but the shop can add crystals and rhinestone wristlets for an additional charge.  
  • There are about 40 ribbon colors to choose from.
  • The shop also hand-wires each flower together to ensure stability during dancing.
  • Ordering early is best, but the shop can accommodate an order on Friday for Saturday pickup.

3. 

  • Rose boutonnieres are about $12
  • Rose corsages run from $24 to $28
  • If you order for this weekend, the styles may differ from those shown on the company website.

4. 

  • Boutonnieres cost $9.99
  • Corsages are $22.99.
  • The design and availability may be standard. Ribbon colors may be limited.
  • The staff can assist you at the last minute Friday for pickup Saturday.
