Healthy Eats and a Pet Store Coming to Ocean Ranch

This week's Laguna Niguel business briefs include 118 Degrees Cafe and Russo's Pet Store coming to the neighborhood.

Laguna Niguel residents will have a new place to eat and buy pet products soon.

Chef Jenny Ross moves into the former Chick-Pita location at 32341 Golden Lantern St., where the cafe will be open daily. It will feature a space with shared communal seating and a 12-seat patio. This will be the third 118 Degrees location in Orange County and comes on the heels of the second location, which opened in July on Center Street Promenade in Anaheim. Both locations focus on fresh, whole-foods smoothies, quick-serve and Grab n’ Go options. Meal programs will be available at all three locations.

And while the windows at Ocean Ranch are all blacked out, behind the scenes, they are converting the inside.

"Things will definitely be coming along over the next few weeks - decor, fixtures, our many dehydrators," said Chef Jenny.

Chef Jenny has spent the past five years bringing fresh, organic living cuisine to Orange County at her flagship 118 Degrees Restaurant at The CAMP in Costa Mesa. The two new locations will enable the wider distribution of Jenny Ross Living Foods, the eco-delicious living cuisine that has earned her numerous accolades and awards within the raw foods industry.

“Our new 118 Degrees Community Cafes are intended to make our living cuisine, including salads, entrées and desserts, more accessible to residents in North County and South County,” said Chef Jenny. “The new Laguna Niguel location will serve to empower the community by offering a fun and healthy alternative: fresh, organic living cuisine. As with my Costa Mesa and Anaheim locations, I am confident that we will provide an experience that is comfortable, inviting and educational.”

Russo's Pet Store

After several years of being vacant, the former Pinky Wear has a new tenant, Russo's Pet Store.

The high-end pet store currently has a location in Fashion Island and recently closed its Irvine Spectrum.

Demolation began last week on the former clothing store in the Ocean Village Center, and should be completed soon. There will not be any dogs or cats sold in the Laguna Niguel store, according to Russo's.
