A New Clothing Store Will Host Its Grand Opening, While Another Chick-Pita Closes

Some good and bad business news this week in Laguna Niguel that you might want to take note.

This week in Laguna Niguel, businesses are coming and going faster than you can say 'it's March 1.'

From a new clothing shop opening its doors this weekend to a food establishment saying good-bye, things are certainly happening here in our city.

Over at The Center at Rancho Niguel, ., a women's boutique will celebrate its grand open on Sunday, March 4, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The store took over the space once leased by Pinky Wear, which also sold women's clothing a few months ago.

Another  grill has closed it doors in Laguna Niguel. The location at Ocean Ranch has been closed for a while, but it is now official. A few months back the location at The Center at Rancho Niguel also closed after years at that location.

According to Shea Properties Spokesman, Bill Rams, "Chick-Pita at Ocean Ranch is no longer open. Turn-over at retail centers these days is not uncommon as some retailers are struggling against a languishing economy. That said, many retailers are doing just fine. Case in point, and Chipotle, both recent additions to Ocean Ranch. Also, we're adding a new cinema operator,, this spring. And although we lose retailers from time to time, Ocean Ranch historically has been a very stable center due to its superior demographics and desirable location, and space does not stay vacant for long."

In the past six months, shops that have closed include , and Pinky Wear which has been closed for several years.

In more restaurant news, Maitland, Florida-based Sonny's BBQ, with more than 120 restaurants in nine states, has named Laguna Niguel-based Synergy will be working on multiple strategies as it seeks to re-energize the Sonny's BBQ brand through new menu items, operational efficiencies and equipment upgrades.

"We are delighted with this important new assignment," said Danny Bendas, managing partner. "Once we finished our initial assessment of Sonny's business from the aesthetics to the pragmatics, we have begun to enhance their selection of fresh cooked daily menu items supported by new protein and produce vendors. We are also assisting with the training of Sonny's team members to support their newly upgraded guest experience."

Synergy has also initiated a redesign of the menu graphics as well as all elements of the table presentation.

"Our holistic approach to restaurant brand re-invigoration makes us uniquely qualified to satisfy Sonny's comprehensive initiatives," Bendas concluded.
