Laguna Niguel Auction House to Sell Red Sox Series-Winning Ball

It's the ball Shane Victorino sent hurdling over the Green Monster to win game six of the ALCS and clinch the series.

A Laguna Niguel auction house will offer a recent piece of baseball history in its fall auction beginning Nov. 20.

SCP Auctions, 32451 Golden Lantern, Suite 308, will sell the ball Shane Victorino sent flying over Fenway Park's infamous Green Monster in game six of the ALCS series. The home run clinched the series for the Red Sox.

Sox fan Nick Wood, a 23-year old University of Rhode Island student, describes catching the series-finishing ball that he is planning to sell.

"We were just jumping up and down and I heard this security guard screaming at us, saying, 'Ball, ball, ball!' And I looked down and it was literally rolling in between our feet," he said. "I grabbed it and after that it was just mayhem. I'm just overwhelmed by it, I guess, because everywhere I go, people are asking to talk to me."

SCP Auctions specializes in sports memorabilia. The business once sold the famously rare Honus Wagner baseball card for $2.8 million, as well as Babe Ruth's signed bat used to hit the first home run in Yankee Stadium for $1.2 million.
