Is Black Friday Shopping for You?

Some people start lining up late Thanksgiving night to take advantage of door-buster deals, but wouldn't you rather savor sleeping in the day after or enjoying another slice of pie?

Love it or hate it, Black Friday is the super bowl of shopping.

And with its arrival officially here, are you out the door or still hung over from too much turkey to worry about the potential savings stores big and small have to offer?

Some people create their own Black Friday “game plans” on what stores to hit and when after they've poured over the announced bargains various retailers have to offer.

There are those so keen on saving they set alarms to wake them up in the wee hours of the night. Others have already lined up or even camped out yesterday to scoop up the deals they’re after.

Are you one of those shoppers? Do you do Black Friday or do you prefer to stay as far away from stores on the day after Thanksgiving as possible?

I've never been a fan of Black Friday, mostly because I host a Thanksgiving dinner every year and look forward to sleeping in on Friday morning. It would never occur to me to go shopping at midnight on Thursday and I was disappointed that stores would open late on Thanksgiving, depriving their employees of a day of relaxation with family. I did go to Kohl's around 11 a.m. on Friday morning, due to some great coupons and sale prices, but then had to wait in the check-out line over an hour to pay for my bargains. Was it worth it? I guess so. I made some nice acquaintances in line as we worked our way from the back of the store to the front and the cash registers. Would I do it again next year? Maybe. But you'll never see me at 3 a.m. in line waiting for a store to open. I'll be sound asleep.
