Five Guys Burgers and Fries Opening May 23

The burger restaurant opens in Ocean Ranch and is currently hiring.

As in Ocean Ranch II Shopping Center at 32451 Golden Lantern St., Five Guys Burgers and Fries is preparing for a May 23 opening.

The restaurant chain is best known for its mouthwatering burgers and fries to die for.

“Monument Restaurants is very excited about opening our fifth Five Guys Burgers and Fries,” said Chris Gates, construction manager for the restaurant group. The restaurant is hiring.

The store takes the spot over from Generations, a home goods store that moved into the former Sprint location last month.

Five Guys has other locations—in Thousand Oaks, Huntington Beach, Valencia—and just opened in Culver City.

Tasty! I've been waiting to try this place out. Glad it's coming to South OC.

Good for journalists on the go, right Pete?

Blake: If the food is as good as the photos imply, there will be long lines!

I can't guarantee it's good for us, but good tasting? You bet.

Speaking as a burger expert, and having eaten at the one in Cerritos two years ago, I can say that Five Guys leaves much to be desired. Better is the also-expanding Habit chain, but In-n-Out will always rule these parts.

Burger Expert: You are the only one that I ever heard of that said you don't like Five Guys! Personally, when I ate meat, I loved Big Boy's!
Rich Kane April 27, 2011 at 03:22 AM
No, I do not like Five Guys, especially when they serve their burgers with an aftertaste of undeserved East Coast superiority. Bob's is classic, natch -- there's one in Orange. South County could use one ...

Burger Expert: maybe we should take a poll to see what burger joints readers on Laguna Beach and Laguna Niguel prefer... see who wins?

I have to agree that the Habit makes excellent burgers. I am a huge fan of their chicken club sandwich. I looking forward to giving Five Guys and Fries a try though.

Blake: The Habit?
Jim Galt April 27, 2011 at 04:47 AM
Finally, some solid East Coast burgers to cure the In-n-Out addiction here. I'll be there Day 1.

There's a Habit in Lake Forest I regularly frequent ...

Jim: Our burger expert says In-N-Out is the best around!
Rich Kane April 27, 2011 at 05:08 AM
The ONLY East Coast burger worth devouring is served at Mr. Bartley's Burger Cottage in Harvard Square, Cambridge, Mass.
Jim Galt April 27, 2011 at 05:20 AM
Oh well if the burger expert says so, I'm convinced...

Jim: I wouldn't be :)

The Habit Burger Grill they have a lot of locations in Southern California. They make a good Veggie Burger as well. I think a poll to see what burger joints people prefer is a great idea.
