Costco says the fee increases are due to the rising costs of food as well as clothing.

According to a company press release issued on Wednesday, the company reported its net sales jumped 17 percent to $27.6 billion in the fourth quarter, which included sales from a Mexican joint venture. Comparable sales were up 12 percent system wide; in the U.S. they increased 10 percent, while internationally comparable sales grew 19 percent.
