Laguna Niguel continues to attract new businesses ranging from financial institutions to retail, but it also loses a long time home furnishings favorite.

In biz briefs this week there is a new bank coming to town while an old Laguna Design Center favorite is packing its bags, er, sofas.

First, Opus Bank will open a branch in Laguna Niguel in the first quarter of 2012 that will be located at 24050 Aliso Creek Rd. Headquartered in Irvine; Opus currently has 15 Southern California banking offices.

Dr. Pat Echolds, DVMA said the hospital provides a vast array of medical and surgical services to the Rancho Niguel pet community.

Dr. Pat Echolds practiced in San Clemente for five years before starting Rancho Niguel Animal Hospital in Laguna Niguel.

"We focus on treating dogs and cats, and we have competitive pricing for our services, as we understand the impact the economy has had on many of our pet owners.

"We are excited to develop a relationship with our community, and we encourage pet owners to stop by with their pets with any questions that they may have for us," she continued. "We love referrals, and are offering 10 percent off veterinary services for anyone who refers a friend."

And while we welcome these new businesses to the community, over at the Laguna long time tenant Kreiss is departing. The concierge at the store said the showroom has been in the building since the 1980s. She added that they are leaving because, "they are consolidating to the Fashion Island store."
