Beware of Men Impersonating MNWD Employees

The Moulton Niguel Water District says it received a call on Monday from the O.C. Sheriff's Department that two men knocked on a resident's door stating "the sewer had mixed with drinking water" and they wanted to gain entry into the home.

Residents should be careful opening up their doors to two men who are impersonating Moulton Niguel Water Distict employees, according to authorities.

On Monday, received a call from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department stating the men knocked on a resident’s door and said: “the sewer had mixed with the drinking water” and they needed to come in and test it. 

The resident let the men in only to discover they were impersonating water district employees, according to MNWD officials.

When the residents confronted the two men, they fled the scene in a white pickup truck, according to MNWD officials. 

"We encourage the residents to be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious persons. Please do not allow anyone into your homes before verifying," said MNWD GM, Joone Lopez.

If there is ever a water quality issue, all customers will be contacted directly by MNWD staff. If someone comes to your door, and you are not sure if they are a MNWD employee, please call MNWD immediately at (949) 831-2500. 

A customer service representative will verify if an MNWD employee is scheduled to be at your residence.
