UPDATE: Sexual Assault Suspect Turns Himself In

News release from the Laguna Beach Police Department:

UPDATE: Azadgilani surrendered to Laguna Beach police at 5:30 p.m. Friday and was being booked on a $100,000 arrest warrant, Laguna Beach Police Department Capt. Jason Kravetz said.

ORIGINAL POST: Investigators from the Laguna Beach Police Department are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a sexual assault suspect whose last known residence was in Laguna Niguel.

The identified man is accused of attacking a Laguna Beach resident inside her home during the late afternoon of April 21, 2013.

Shortly after the assault occurred, the victim contacted the police department.  While officers responded to the scene, the suspect is believed to have fled on his BMW motorcycle.

Laguna Beach Detectives investigated the sexual assault and obtained a warrant for the man’s arrest earlier this week.  Attempts to arrest him at his home and place of business have occurred, but he appears to be hiding from authorities.
Not only does the Laguna Beach Police Department want to safely take him into custody for sexually assaulting one of our residents, but we also need to release his information in case there are additional victims.

Should you see this man, contact your local law enforcement agency and report it.  He has an active $100,000 warrant for rape.

Suspect: Babak Azadgilani, aka “Bobby”, 26 years old (Date of Birth= April 1, 1987), last known residence in Laguna Niguel.

Vehicle: Azadgilani is known to use a 2010 BMW motorcycle with California license plate 2OM4237.
