Grab and Go: Surfing Santas and Christmas Tree Lighting

Wondering what's going on this weekend in and around Laguna Niguel?

Friday, Nov. 16  Teen Activity Night  7-9 p.m.  Laguna Niguel Parks and Recreation presents Teen Activity Night for 6th-8th graders.  Join in for a night of ping pong, dancing, wii challenges, games, snacks and prizes. Admission is $5 and entry must be before 7:30 p.m.  Participants must stay in the facility until the event is over. Visit cityoflagunaniguel.org for more information. Friday, Nov. 16  Friday Night at the Movies  7-9 p.m. The Dana Point Library shows a film every third Friday of the month. This month’s film is Prairie Love. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. Visit ocpl.org for more information. Dana Point Library, 33841 Niguel Road, Dana Point. 

Saturday, Nov. 17  8 a.m. Third Annual Surfing Santa Competition  Head on down to the beach Saturday morning to watch some surfing Santas hit the waves in a fundraiser for autism. The competition raises money for Surfers Healing and features a $1,000 prize for the Big Air “Flying Rudolph” category and additional prizes for Santa’s Helpers (15 and under), Santa’s Elves (16-20 year olds), Toymakers (20+) and Yule Loggers (open long board).  Entry fee is $50. The competition is part of CSR program, Community Footprints. Surfers Healing enriches the lives of people with autism by exposing them to the unique experience of surfing. Saturday, Nov. 17  9-11 a.m. Dana Point Interpretive Garden  Join in on the planting of a new “Interpretive Garden” around the Nature Interpretive Center in Dana Point. Beginning at 9 a.m., plant expert, Mike Evans, of the Tree of Life Nursery, will teach participants about common native plants that grow well in Dana Point and the surrounding area, as well as how to properly plant and care for them. Beginning at 10 a.m., volunteers will plant the new “Interpretive Garden.” Food will be available to all volunteers.  Visit danapoint.org for more information. Saturday, Nov. 17  Doll Tea Party  3-4 p.m. Pottery Barn Kids is hosting a fundraiser for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital Saturday afternoon.  With a $10 donation, your kids will enjoy refreshments, stories and crafting with a favorite doll or teddy bear.
