Caller Mistakes Lanterns for UFOs

A rundown of calls that came into the O.C. Sheriff's Department from Aug.12-13.

A man reported that while parked on Aliso Creek Road, he and four other drivers witnessed in the sky. The caller called back, stating that the “UFOs” were actually lanterns with candles in them, but he still wanted police. Monday, Aug.13:

Citizen Assist 9:32 p.m. 23800 block of Longspur Court. A man reported that the people he hired to transport his boat refused to give it back. He stated that he was a lawyer and was sure this counted as theft.

Shots Heard-No Suspect Information 8:43 p.m. 28100 block of Moulton Parkway. A man reported that he heard six shots near the tennis courts of The Palms apartment complex. Nothing else was seen or heard.

Sunday, Aug. 12:

Petty Theft 10:20 a.m. 27400 block of Alicia Parkway. A caller reported that a man was going through unlocked vehicles and taking items. This occurred in the parking lot between the main entry and garden section, about four rows back. The suspect was 25 years old, and wearing a red cap, sunglasses, a black shirt and black shorts. 

Assault Report 4:32 p.m. Dana Point Harbor Drive/Puerto Plaza. A subject struck a caller’s vehicle with a bicycle in front of the at the , and punched him in the face. The subject was 6' 3", with gray hair, and wearing a blue Chargers shirt and red shorts. (Dana Point)
