Turkey Trot Draws 11,000 Runners, Joggers, Gobblers [photos]

Did you attend the 36th annual Dana Point Turkey Trot?

The 2013 trot broke records with more than 4,000 spectators and 11,000 runners of all ages for the 5k and 10k races, plus the Kids' Gobble Walk.

Four local charities benefited from the race.

The Dana Point Chamber awarded $5,000 to the charity that raised the most money on crowdrise.com, with additional cash prizes awarded to each participating charity. 

  • First Prize - The Dana Point 5th Marines Regiment raised $6,695, and was awarded an additional $5,000 on race day, for a total of $11,695;
  • Second Prize - Family Assistance Ministries earned $3,494 including a $2,500 prize;
  • Third Prize - The Boys & Girls Club of Capistrano Valley was awarded $1,500 from the Chamber for a total of $2,018;
  • Fourth Prize - Veterans of Foreign War Post 9934 raised $526 and was awarded an additional $1,000.
