Sewage Spill in Dana Point: Some Areas Closed to Swimmers

County shuts down several areas in and around the harbor.

If you're thinking of swimming in certain areas of Dana Point Harbor and surroundings beaches, read these closures issued by the Orange County Health Care Agency's Ocean Water Protection Program.


Ocean and bay waters are closed when an immediate health hazard is identified such as a sewage spill

Until further notice, Baby Beach, Youth Dock, Guest Dock, "A" Dock, "B" Dock, and "C" Dock of the West Basin in Dana Point Harbor is closed to swimming and diving due to a sewage spill (closed 10/9/2012).


Ocean and bay waters are posted with warning signs when bacterial levels in ocean or bay waters exceed health standards.

Dana Point - From the Dana Point Harbor breakwater to 300 feet downcoast of the Dana Point Harbor breakwater at Doheny State Beach (posted area reduced 9/21/2012).

Dana Point - 500 feet upcoast of the projection of the last campground to the end of the park at Doheny State Beach (posted area reduced 9/21/2012).

Dana Point - All of Capistrano County Beach (posted 9/14/2012).

Dana Point - All of Capistrano Bay Community Beach (posted 9/6/2012).
