No-Burn Alert Through Wednesday

It may be chilly in Dana Point and Laguna Niguel, but you can't burn wood in your fireplace beginning Tuesday night, says air quality agency.

A residential "no-burn" alert will be in effect tomorrow in parts of Los Angeles and Orange counties, barring people from burning wood in their fireplaces due to unhealthy air quality forecast by the South Coast Air Quality Management District.

Under the AQMD's "Check Before You Burn'' program, residents may not
burn "wood or manufactured fire logs'' in their fireplaces or outdoor fire
pits from midnight tonight through midnight Wednesday, Sam Atwood of the AQMD said.

The affected area stretches from Marina del Rey on the north to Laguna
Niguel on the south, to Anaheim Hills on the east.
