Momma and Baby Humpback Whales Bask in Onlookers' Glory All Day Long
Didn't get to the ocean to see them Sunday? Watch them here.
From Dana Wharf Whale Watching:
Monterey Bay has been on the news for a month about all the Humpback Whales and the friendly sightings and lunge feeding watchers have witnessed -.. Sunday, it was kind of like a little Monterey Bay show in Dana Point!
On our first trip out, Sunday, Capt Frank on the Ocean Adventures Luxury Catamaran found what he first thought were three humpbacks - a strange occurrence since we don't see them too often in Dana Point.
Capt Frank then realized it was two humpbacks and a fin whale (which later they thought to be a Brydes whale, which is almost the same exact looking whale).
The humpbacks, a mother and calf, put on a show all day from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m., playing hide-and-go-seek for a few hours.
We thought they had left the area, but around 5 p.m. they showed up again to the delight of the Dana Wharf Whale Watching passengers.
