The following letter to the editor was sent in by Patch reader Shannon Adams:
My daughter and I were at the park at the top of La Hermosa around 9 p.m. (Thursday). Just above our heads we noticed a large aircraft of some sort.
The weird part was it was just hovering! Barely moving and almost completely silent. It was as if they were looking right down on us. I told my daughter jokingly, I feel like we are going to get beamed up. We both felt uneasy.
As we decided to continue our walk we looked out over the Saddleback Valley (huge panoramic view) and noticed four more aircraft all exactly at the same elevation and all barely moving. This made us really scared. We felt like the whole valley was being surveyed or spied on, so we promptly left the area.
Has anyone else reported this type of aircraft sighting? The one above our heads was maybe only 100 ft. We could literally see the bottom which was metallic.
Editor's response: Shannon, thanks for sharing your spooky experience. In fact there was a similar sighting in San Juan Capistrano reported at UFOStalker.com, but that incident allegedly occurred on Sunday, Aug. 25.
The San Juan resident reportedly spotted four aircraft flying in a V-formation directly overhead. The resident spotted the flying machines while using night vision goggles and claimed to have recorded the sighting on video, though no video is yet available on the website.
One possible explanation is that U.S. Marine Base Camp Pendleton has been performing extensive training routines from Aug. 20-30. Explosions from the training have been heard as far west as Mission Viejo.
