Killer Whales Grab Sea Lion in Dana Point Harbor

Orcas have been spotted in the harbor and near Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel this week. Now, they are busy going after sea lions.

Orcas have been seen up and down the coastline this week, especially in Dana Point harbor.

Check out this video shot Wednesday by Capt. Dave Anderson of Capt. Dave's Dolphin and Whale Safari Boats based in Dana Point.

The footage, recorded near the opening to Dana Point harbor, shows the orcas doing what they do at dinner time—definitely not something you'd see at Sea World.

A entry posted on the Facebook page by Mike Makofske of the Orange County chapter of the American Cetacean Society says that the sea lion here may be already deceased.

I don't know how you get your stories, but you are beating all the other local news outlets to some great stories! I shared this video with several friends. I saw a small gray whale heading south off of the DP Bluff this morning (1/11). Too quick and a bit too far away to get a picture. Thank you for the great reporting!
