Hostess Strikes, Are Twinkies History?

Wondering about your favorite childhood sweets such as Twinkies and if they will disappear from grocery store shelves in Laguna Niguel?

ABC News is reporting: "Hostess Brands announced Friday it is beginning to close down operations and has filed a motion with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court seeking permission to shut its business and sell its assets, including its iconic brands and facilities."

The news outlets says: "Bakery operations have been suspended at all plants. Delivery of products will continue and Hostess Brands retail stores will remain open for several days in order to sell already-baked products."

Locally, stores like Vons, Ralphs and Albertsons told Patch they still have Twinkies on their shelves, and report there is not a massive surge to strip the aisles of the sweets quite yet.

"The Board of Directors authorized the wind down of Hostess Brands to preserve and maximize the value of the estate after one of the company's largest unions, the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union, initiated a nationwide strike that Hostess says crippled the company's ability to produce and deliver products at multiple facilities," ABC News reports.

"On Monday, Hostess Brands permanently closed three plants as a result of the work stoppage. On Wednesday, the company announced it would be forced to liquidate if sufficient employees did not return to work to restore normal operations by 4 p.m.," CST, ABC News said.

I hit enter in the comment and it posted - I wasn't done! Why would it post if you don't clickRead More "post comment"?! I read one story and the scrunched up left placement gave me a headache. The ad column on the right is way too big - too wide. If they made that smaller, swapped the "board" column and the news (so the news was in the middle), I think it would be easier to read.

With the ad block on the right and the boards info in the middle, it feels like the news part isRead More scrunched too far to the left.
