Halloween is Not Over: Cash in Candy, $1 Per Pound Today in Laguna Niguel

If you didn't eat all your candy last night, a local dentist is offering money for your left-overs from 3-6 p.m. Thursday.

If you have had your fill of Halloween candy by now, Dr. William Nguyen, DDS, located at 30231 Golden Lantern St., in Laguna Niguel is offering his annual "Candy Buy-Back" event from 3-6 p.m. Thursday only.

Show up with any unwanted candy and you will receive $1 per pound; maximum 5 pounds.

Now in its 12th year, the event is always a hit, and kids of all ages stop by to turn in their sweet treats.

According to Helene Meyers, office manager, last year Nguyen doled out more than $300 to kids.

"We always have a good turn out," Meyers said. "He does this mostly for the kids who wear braces because they can't eat the sticky, or chewy types of candy. However, we do open up the buy-back to everyone. No child should have all that candy any way."

The office is also making a donation to the Wounded Warrior project and for the past 2 years, it donated funds to Operation Gratitude.

"It's a fun event and everyone has a good time," she said. "We have a scale and people always come armed with what they don't want or can't eat."

I hit enter in the comment and it posted - I wasn't done! Why would it post if you don't clickRead More "post comment"?! I read one story and the scrunched up left placement gave me a headache. The ad column on the right is way too big - too wide. If they made that smaller, swapped the "board" column and the news (so the news was in the middle), I think it would be easier to read.

With the ad block on the right and the boards info in the middle, it feels like the news part isRead More scrunched too far to the left.
