Expanded Peanut Butter Recall: List Grows to 76 Products

The Sunland Corp., issued a recall a few weeks ago due to a possible health risk concerning its peanut butter products sold nationally and in Laguna Niguel. There are now 30 sick in 28 states, the FDA reports.

The list of Sunland Corp., peanut butter products being recalled has been extended by the FDA and now includes 76 other items ranging from crackers to cookies. Many of the products are sold here in Laguna Niguel at Fresh & Easy, Whole Foods and Trader Joe's, as well as large supermarket chains.

Now included in the growing list: Cashew and Almond Butter sold at Trader Joe's, Fresh & Easy and Whole Foods.

Also recently added: Newman's Own Organics has issued a voluntary limited recall of certain lots of Peanut Butter Newman-O's Sandwich Crème Cookies, with expiration dates 27MAY13 and 3MAY13, because the products may be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
