Laguna Niguel Girls Softball 10U Team Qualifies for Western Nationals

For the first time in League history, a 10U Gold All- Star team will be representing LNGS in the Western Nationals Tournament in Peoria, Az., July 30-August 4th.  Dynasty, as they are aptly named, consists of 12 outstanding players: Emily Adkison,  Kiana Blake, Malia Brady, Lauren Britton, Chloe DePierro, Chloe Duffield, Lola Holtby, Sarah Javorsky, Kianna Keeling, Sarah Shaw, Piper Tago, and Ellie Wood. The team is led by Head Coach Leena Blake and her Assistant  Coaches: Punch Britton, Chris DePierro, and Pat Shaw.

Dynasty’s All- Star season began on Memorial Day with a first place finish in the San Dieguito Tournament. From there they had a couple of tough tournament finishes until they finished 2nd in the Sea Country Classic, which is the Host tournament at LNGS fields, and is held over Father’s Day.  The girls made their Fathers especially proud that day as they had to win 3 games on Sunday to reach the finals, including a quarterfinal victory against a terrific East County Team, 2-1. It was that win vs. East County, and the toughness Dynasty showed to persevere and reach the finals, that showed the girls that they can compete at the highest level in their age group.

Dynasty took that confidence to the Districts Tournament (a States Tournament Qualifier) in Fountain Valley and finished 2nd place out of 16 of the best 10U softball teams in Orange County. At the Districts tournament, the girls rallied from 3 runs down in their last at bat to beat Orange Canyon and qualify for the States Tournament. They finished with a 5-2 record in the Districts Tournament and lost a hard  fought Championship game against Rancho Trabuco.

At the States Tournament in Lancaster, Dynasty stayed hot with their stellar defense, timely hitting, and tough pitching to carry them to a 4th place finish out of 32 teams participating, qualifying them for the Western Nationals Tournament.

Dynasty, will be one of the twelve teams representing  Southern California, including their community of Laguna Niguel in Peoria, Arizona. It has been a memorable run for this LNGS team. The girls have done it with dignity, hard work and teamwork.

If you are interested in helping contribute to Dynasty’s trip to Peoria, you can send a check payable to LNGS, and in the memo section write “10U Nationals”. Please send to 30251 Golden Lantern Blvd, Suite E315, Laguna Niguel, Ca. 92677.
