Meet Dana Point Author Anita Hughes Wednesday

Here are five things to keep you informed about Laguna Niguel and Dana Point, along with the rest of Orange County for Tuesday, Aug. 20.

  1. Dana Point Anita Hughes, whose debut novel "Monarch Beach" was published last year, will speak Wednesday at the Dana Point Library at 5 p.m. Her latest, "Lake Como," was named one of Good Housekeeping's 15 Best Beach Reads.
  2. Mission Viejo High soccer star Julie Foudy has prompted the American Youth Soccer Organization to declare Foudy Day today, Aug. 20. At noon Foudy will answer your questions live. Ask a question by tweeting #AskJulieFoudy.
  3. Dana Point Chili Cook Off & Country Jamboree at Sea Terrace Park.
  4. Someone caught a great white shark on video off San Clemente Pier.
  5. Classes for the big kids: Capistrano Adult School is pleased to announce that its fall 2013 brochure of classes is available now online at www.CapistranoAdultSchool.org .Online registration will “go live” this morning at 9 for the following program areas:
