Cyclist Arrested on Suspicion of Harbor Beating

Orange County Sheriff's Deputies responded early in the morning Sunday to reports five men ganged up on another.

Five bicyclists were detained and one arrested on suspicion of beating a man near Turk's bar in Dana Point Harbor Sunday morning, according to reports from the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

At 1:16 a.m. Sunday, a caller reported that five men were beating another man, and that they had "smashed his face in" near Turk's, according to the sheriff's dispatch log.

They headed the direction of the bike trail riding bicycles, a witness said.

Deputies ultimately arrested Brady James Velasquez, 24, in connection with the beating, according to jail records.
